Well, ice season was a real big disappointment this year, but I'm moving on. Gills can be found in black bottom bays on North sides of lakes. Kept 8 for a meal,  7.75 to 8.5 inch. Small tungsten jig with Maki plastic and waxies.  Fish were mainly in down trees on the north side or black mud near shore.  Used a lite bite bobber and even then you had to be psychic to detect a strike

Kimchi  is sauerkraut. Plus they it a 100 different ways. I eat some every day. With a gun to her head, she still will not eat it. Also she is 100 %  German. But thanks for taking the time to pass that on.

HERO,
I feel very sorry for you. However, I have a suggestion. My 81-year-old brother served in Korea many years ago and learned that Koreans never get Alzheimer's or dementia because they ate Kimchi, which is a salad type food similar to lettuce. So, when he began to get dementia about 3 years ago, he started to eat it every day and it is amazing how much better he is now! You can buy it at Pick n Save and other stores. Give it a try and let me know if it helps. BG25

On at 9 off at 12:30, water 48, wind up and down all the time. Went through 100 wax worms. Kept 22, 7 1/2 to 8 1/2. Caught gills sun fish and bass. 4 feet of water. I only fished about an hour. Now the YADA YADA. Had my boy home for the weekend, he is gone. He is in stage 9 of Alzsheimer, a vegetable. He does not know who he is. Can not feed himself. A little over a year ago he was stage 6. Now the bad part. I fished with my wife today. Had to roll her off the pier to get her in the boat. That was the easy part, getting her out was a trip. Now for the really, really bad part. She was stage 4 Alzsheimers last year, now she is stage 6. She could handle a rod pretty good last year, not so good this year. I did all the baiting and taking fish off of her line. Also taking the tangles out of her line. I could not get her to close the bail as her bait hit the water. Nothing more to say. But if any one out there has any one they love with this crap. Give them all you got, time wise. Because it sneaks up on you fast and suddenly its too late to spend the time with them that they deserve. My best to you and yours.

The wind last night sank the ice on most Western Waukesha County Lakes. Bass Abductor was already pulling in 8 to 9 inch gills today on open water

I got out today. Had to go alone. Getting harder and harder to find fresh meat. I hate going alone at my age. Getting hard to put the boat in alone, harder to get it out. Besides if I am alone. There is no one to blame for every thing that goes wrong. Can't take the warden, she is so weak she can barley get in and out of the car. The boat, not at all. First trip for my boat. Was worried about my batteries. Four years old, but ran my electric for two hours, no problems. Big motor started up before I even got my hand on the switch. Caught a limit of gills. Could have caught 200. But threw them all back, including my limit. Big gill of the day was 6 3/4 inch. Lots of crappies on the screen all over the lake. But they were giving me the FIN. Threw the tackle box at them. Should of threw a spear. Hope I can find someone to go out with next week. I don't mind if its 40 or 45. I be a die hard. Best of luck to all. As JORY says. HERO is great to fish with, if you can stand the verbal abuse. If you can, let me know. [email protected].

Did a search for some safe ice to fish on in Waukesha County.  Only found 1. Hunters Lake near Dousman.  Me and 6 other guys were out there. The 3 cold nights firmed up the top 2.5 inches of ice. There was a total of 4 inches. In the middle of February! On the safest lake!!. More 50 degree days coming,  I'm done ice fishing down here, I will be going 3 hrs nort for my next ice trip

This is from before the storm, but I'm guessing the water is still open and will be until the weekend. I'm thinking this is my last open water trip of the winter. Fished low and slow with the jerk minnow junior in hopes of finding big pike and big bass, but only found junior sized fish.

Covered a bunch of ground today in the Eastern Walworth  / Western Racine county area, to include some seldom skunked (tried and true) spots, and got skunked lol!

The smaller lakes (more like big ponds) had skim
Ice. Certainly not even close enough to walk on, but it did prevent us from fishing them!

The river spots were dead, dead, dead!  However given that it's almost January and can still open water fish, had to give it a whirl!

This is the first time this year we didn't get a bump, bite, or fish.

I would do it all over again though!  Was a great day!

Unless we get a freak 50° day, likely done until hard water or spring!

After 3 lakes (we were unable to fish), and two rivers ended the day with lots of good fresh air, so that's a win!

The ice is off everything now. I took the kayak out with some jerkbaits.  The suspending jerkbait worked, I thought this old perch colored one was a suspending one, but it floated, and the fish weren't going to chase that. I did find some takers by the drop offs.
