Got out with the Legendary Bass Abductor.  Although the water is frigid, he was ripping spinnerbaits at mid-summer speeds, catching beautiful smallmouth 17 to 20 inch. I was finnessing a swimbait and only caught a pike and a largemouth.  Was not shocking for me. In the past I've seen him rip cranks thru 40 degree water and outfish my live shiners! Anyway,  the last hour we found a bunch of crappie,  all different sizes, from 5 inch to 14 inch, all in the same little spot. Kept a few for the pan

Just incase anyone is wondering.  I checked the water temp with the fish hawk today and had 55 degrees from surface to 60 foot.

Got back out this past Saturday.  Fish bit well from dawn til 10:00 then died.  We got only 2 more fish from 10:30-Noon.
Lots of smallmouth.  1-20" and 2-19" and rest running 18"-19".  Picked up a fat 16" largemouth on a shiner as well.

I got out this past Wednesday.  Did well on smallmouth bass.  Biggest was 19".  Using large shiners in 20'-25' depth.
Fun when we had 2 on at one time and got both in the net.  Hitting aggressively so don't let them take the bait too long.  Best action was right at dawn.  Used circle hooks.  Wind is my big enemy this time of year.  Can't always fish where I want to go.  The wind dictates the spot.  When do we get indian summer?

JB:

I looked on the DNR webpage and i see no Waukesha co lakes at 500 acres closest I saw was 470 Little Muskego?

Which Ive gotten nice crappies out there in the olden days but nothing of that caliber.

The Bass and Pike are still biting after the rain and cold. The afternoon did start slow, but when the sun came out and the wind calmed down, I found some that were willing to bite just before dusk. I was using baitmate on a jig and crawfish plastic. They all were on weed lines, but in shallower than I thought they'd be.

Couldn't figure out a discernible pattern. Couldn't keep fish on the hook. I did land a few fish including a nice pike, but overall, it was a frustrating day in the swamp lake.
