Whitefish Lake, Ontario, Canada

Anyway, My Dad called Sunday morning. They didn't get perching on Saturday, but got an 18" & 29" eye before dark. The 18 went toward the Man Food supply & Dad's partner put back the 29 for you to play with. Said both fish fought like pike.

They fished east of the west end island. No action on cranks. Drifted & cast into the wind with 1/8th & 1/4 oz jigs with white 2" & 3" twister tails tipped with leeches. I guess the 29 came on a split/double tail body.

I'll post a soon as I hear more.

Is anybody going in july? We are , just curious if anyone else is.

Thanks for the report.  I am leaving on Saturday for a week at Windy Pines and will report back.  I assume that you are slip bobbering a lot if you are fishing perch.  Did you try any other fishing methods?

Toughontrout I sent you a friend request. I have a couple questions for you.

Just got back from Windy Pines on Whitefish Lake. 10 guys, 5 days fishing ( lost 1 day to 48 mph sustained winds !)  Brought back 182 perch, 13 walleye & 15 northern & had 1 fish fry of all northern. Hope you guys do better. Please post & let me know.

Has anyone been to Whitefish yet this year? If so please give a report. If not when are you going?

We went last year the first full week the border was open. Fishing was good. We are going our normal week this year, the last week of july. Things should be good.

I'll be at Windy Pines the second week in June. Our group hasn't been there in a half dozen years or so, so looking forward to it. I'll be waiting for your reports. Good luck!

Zeke, we are going up next weekend (5/28) and also staying @ Windy Pines. You can call them (808) 475-6947 & they will graciously answer any questions you have. For the last 16 years, the ice has always been out for their opener. As far as covid issues @ the border, you shouldn't have any as long as you've enrolled on ArriveCAN.com within 72 hours of your border arrival. Also, that website IS case sensitive and in case you go to a fraudulent website, you'll know at the end because you'll be asked for payment and the correct  ArriveCAN  states  that there is no fee

Any one heading up to the Whitefish Lake area this summer?  I have two trips planned in June of this year unless there are Covid issues at the border.  We are staying at Windy Pines both trips and I will be venturing out to other lakes as well.  Can't wait to get back.  Any thoughts on how the fishing has been and what to expect this summer.  Good luck to everyone!

Looking for any information from any locals that might have fished Whitefish Lake or any of the surrounding lake by Nolalu Ontario recently.  It was hard this summer not to be up there with the border shut down.  I totally understand why but I am hoping this summer will be different.  I know the fishing is not what it used to be but I still enjoy spending a few days every year on Whitefish before heading out to other lakes. I spent a lot of time on Lake Superior this past summer instead.

As we enter 2020 I am counting the days for my trips this summer to Whitefish and the areas lakes.  Any one out there do any fall fishing or winter fish this year?

Since the fishing has declined on Whitefish I have ventured to other lakes as well.  I have fished Sandstone, Prelate, Sunbow, Iron Range, Arrow, Mountain, and Icarus.  Iron Range has been the most consistent for me.  I know some people who like Prelate but it has always disappointed me.  The improved road makes it much easier to travel now.  I keep looking at Northern Lights and wanting to try it.  Any suggestions?
