What a day the wind made it difficult to find a area to get the right presentation but whe we did the bobber went down then it was getting used to the crappie rod but all ended well with some missed and some caught. The bite was on when we arrived and slowed as the morning went on I will say the ride back although warm and dry was not for the faint of heart I truly thank this anglerett for braving the storm to spend a few hours staring at the bobbers. Did not get as many pics it was very wet on my hands.
Yesterday I had a father/ son and let’s just say we made many moves and the only one to catch was the young man making us old guys look old. He was very focused and as he put it the bobber moved funny fish on sorry dad. We then checked a smallmouth spot and can you say dad get the net as he is fighting a big bass to be photographed and released what a fun day.
After a couple of wind days I made it out this morning the crappie were slow at first then picked up as the clouds came in and the wind had a ripple on the water. I was I 6 to 11ft casting bobber and minnow letting it slowly drift was key today looking forward to a snow day tomorrow. I did alittle smallmouth fishing to no avail but it was fun trying as I was casting c-rig and plastic on a very slow retrieve will keep looking. Water temperature was holding in the 37 to 40 degrees. All released today.
The water temperature is hovering at 39 to 42 and the crappies have pulled into the dead weeds and cribs around the lake there are large and smallmouth in same areas and the bobber and minnows work great. Have been having a blast as the crappie have been going all day on and off and while I love my mornings trips the bite has been on as long as the wind is blowing just right. Piers are going in around lake looking great be save reeel and set.
Went back only to find one hungry crappie did some looking found gills and largemouth in 4 to 6ft then went looking for smallmouth I went 1 for 2 and Rick went 0 for 1 the drop shot and fathead on the break line.
