I saw online a post of open water on Pelican. A big spot south of weaver point. Everywhere I’ve been there has been 10 plus inches, I don’t understand this.

has anybody been fishing the northside of the lake in those weedy bays? I remember many, many years ago catching panfish and an occasional walleye. At that time, you could park on the road and walk right to the water not sure what it's like now.?

Ice: 10"
late report.  was up to check on the cottage and fished Sat.  fished east side humps/mud etc.  ice was great, about as easy to get around as you possibly could except for the froze slush ruts.   drilled a LOT of holes (understatement) everywhere from 11-28 fow.  didn't spend a lot of time in any one hole but did not mark a single thing all day, it was insane.  moved a couple times and then finally as the sun started going down some perch showed up.,  unfortunately they were all borderline.  thick but just not long enough for us to keep.   did get 2 little eyes on tip ups as it got dark.

no clue how it is now but was solid 10-11" of ice and firming back up/making ice in the evenings.  lake was hummin Sat night as it got down to 17.  not sure when I'll make it back up but at least got out on the ice once this year!

My guess would be they would spawn earlier due to the higher temps which will heat the water up to spawning temps earlier then normal, as for will it be a successful spawn, I would say it will be about average.

With all this warm weather this early in the year are the fish going to spawn better, worse, or the same as normal?

I was a out on a smaller lake south of Pelican this morning and afternoon. I could hear and see the ice melting fast. No snow cover to help keep the ice. There was 8-10 inches but soft. I would just walk out for the rest of the season. Fishing was slow - teased a few crappies into biting 12-18 feet of water with weeds

Unfortunately have not been up since before Halloween.  Looking at reports, and the shack, I spose I should just leave the fishin stuff home for my short trip this weekend?
