Jigged the dam area Saturday late AM to early afternoon. Minnows dropshot or jigged produced 1 short sauger and 1 4' paddlenose. Actually had another big fish on but it zipped off line and wrapped up in the anchor. Very few boats catching, I never tried plastics but was limted moving around since my engine crapped out on me. Big thank you to the blue lund owner who towed me in. Carb cleaner was all I needed-and a new trolling battery.

Shore fishing this afternoon, saw there were six boats below the dam. No ice around and the water looked to be a little low, but nothing out of the ordinary. Makes it very tempting to get the boat out with these air temperatures!

Fished this past weekend in the rain. We caught Catfish, sturgeon, walleye, sauger and smallmouth. Only a couple of river monsters!

Fished up here a couple of days last week.  Fishing was good.  Plenty of action but nothing caught was very big.  Although I did catch some 8" gills.  Catfish were all two pounds or less.  Biggest one got snagged reeling in most likely from a broken line from sturgeon season.  Biggest smallmouth was 12 inches.  Caught one legal walleye and one under size.  Biggest fish was a sheephead.  Gills were caught mostly on gulp and red worms.  Catfish were caught on minnows, gulp, and worms.  No surprise there.  Walleyes and smallies caught on crappie minnows.

So many snags up here makes fishing very frustrating with the biggest culprit being braid line that has broken off.  Fishing that first back eddy below the powerhouse is where I pulled this rig out. Really?  I can't believe it got snagged. Lol.

River is absolutely loaded with Gizzard Shad right now.  Shiner population appears to be way down.  Although I've seen the exact opposite over the years.  If cast nets were legal in Wisconsin one toss would get you a years worth of cut bait for catfish. Plenty of food for the big fish to eat.

Rat.
