Menominee River

Came down last weekend for a day and caught nothing off the island. I did see a couple males come in backwards by the dam. Has anyone been doing anything from shore since the weekend?

Wondering is the River open to the mouth yet my guess is not yet looking to do some trout fishing

There are several deeper holes within a mile of the launch off JJ. Both upstream and downstream. I used to have a place on river and usually did well on sturgeon in late summer/early fall. Never tried specifically for them but caught many large ones soaking crawlers in those deeper holes. Biggest i ever landed was 51” but had larger break line several times. Was using 6 or 8 pound test. Good luck they are in there.

I'm not sure Grogan would be your best choice. I think on the Michigan side there is a better launch right below the dam.

Is there any good way to get a boat up to the white rapids dam? I want to fish for sturgeon and hopefully keep a 60". can you put a boat in right below the dam (theres no official landing but it looks possible with a small boat)? Otherwise the other good landing looks to be Grogan Road but thats a 4.5 mile trek with some pretty heavy rapids a mile below the dam. I have a 14' boat so even if its too shallow to big motor I can hop out and walk the boat upstream. Has anyone tried this?

One more.  My daughter, in the previous post, has caught the biggest sturgeon in the family, 61", estimated at 75-100 lbs.  Catch and release below the dam.
