Just got back I definitely think it is living in the culvert. I checked both sides, of the highway, and it looks like it comes out and walks around close to the pipe about ten to twenty feet, then goes back in. I didnt see any tracks that looked like it just was passing through or left. We have only had snow since monday so that tells me thats home.Washburn county, Stone Lake

Did a lot of scouting this week. Trying to find a lake with good ice. Found one in the U.P. On Tuesday. Fished it today. Great time and we had 5.5 - 8 inches of ice. Targeted lake Trout. Pike Jr. caught a very nice walleye. Released of course- out of season. Gorgeous day. Great to get a “bonus” ice fishing trip in.

Utahman, what county? I believe your over in nw Wi and got quite a bit of snow. Bears do den in culverts but the water flow will push them out. Keep us updated if you go back “tracking”.

Just saw a bear about a quarter mile out of town.Looked like it was coming out of a culvert. I drove past and the guy behind stopped an must have been watching it. I turned around  to check it out again and look for tracks to see if it left or was denning up in the culvert. Couldnt really see any leaving tracks, so I might take a walk down there tomorrow.

Water levels way down. 9 inches of snow yesterday and last night. Ice on most of the lakes went, then many regained an inch or two of new ice. Crazy!

Plans foiled again. I was to be up north all week. Thought I would get the boat in the water perch fishing then cut firewood.

Maybe next week if the weather looks cooperative

Don’t know if anyone reported, or not, but the Irish bar on Tower Rd. burnt down close to Manitowish Waters. Complete lose. Drove by yesterday. Sad to see. Still smoke coming from fire when I drove by. Was shocked to see it.

Yeah, I bet with that lack of snow all winter, levels aren't great. Bring it on. We're staying back until sometime after Easter now anyway. Health issues kept me away all of the cold season, so I was all in. Oh well, hope the dang mosquitoes aren't like last spring! That was somethin' else.

An early start has happened all winter for me. I have already brought in 6 loads of fire wood.. A normal year I don’t get going on this til mid April. We really need the precipitation,no matter what form it falls in. The lakes are at very low water levels at this time.

I'm lookin at the plus sides...plenty of wood to burn, good opportunity to see what game trails are being used, a little extra work to burn off winter weight, maybe panfishing? Lol, who knows, turkey scouting for sure, target practice, etc. Honestly, this SUCKS. Any thoughts of an early start on real work just went pfft.

Nice pics & cool to see I’m sure . Have seen a few wanderers the last few years & they are very impressive to see . Was able to go on a hunt in B.C. a few years back in September & bulls were in the velvet yet . I shot this Canadian bull & never will forget the site & size of it at about 75 yards . Some marbling & antlers are removable .  Memorable hunt
