Let's talk pike lures. What do you do well on? What do you feel is over-rated?

I catch most of my pike on a Black and Silver #5 Rapala Floating Minnow. Smile

5 of Diamonds with a crawler tail and Large Rattle Traps have worked for me.

One word....SUICKS!

specifically the 7 inch chartruse black spot  non weighted thriller.

Spoons in rivers work wonders too, well for me atleast...

The lure that works the best is orange and black spinner bait caught stringers full of pike. Also for big pike regular brown and silver buck tails.

The UNDERRATED Johnson Silver Minnow.  Tip it with a 3" twister tail & drive them nuts.  Crazy action.  Super versatile.  Topwater, slop, reed beds, coontail, grass, trees, great for skipping under docks, trees, buildings etc.  Pretty much snag free.  Can fish it at any speed.  Also, works great for Smallmouth & Largemouth Bass.  My second favorite lure of all time!  First being lipless crankbaits!  It has a lot to do with confidence in what your using.

There is no worst. I landed a 28 incher on tiny MiniMite with a bit of worm on 2 Lb. line with a rod lacking the backbone of a rubber band. Best is live bait.

Basically Everything that moves.. If I had to pick I'd defianately go with a spinner bait. If they are active and the water is come enough, Jitter-Bugs are my favorite. Nothing beats a wide open mouth staring at you. Big Smile

Live perch work really well. Three perch used this year and I've landed a 25, 28, and a 33.

I lost a nice one too and a home made spinner bait because I tried to get a decent one into the boat without a net a few weeks back.
