Lake Winnebago

Winnebago County boat launch increase coming if approved by Winnebago County Supervisors @ their next meeting Dec 19th @ 6PM. The Parks committee voted 3-1 to send this proposal to the board! Karen Powers, James Ponzer & Rachael Dowling voted in favor,  Steve Binder voted NO! Please contact them and your supervisor to let them know your feelings. Current Daily $7. Proposed. $8

50°  by Friday, 40° the following weekend. We'll be lucky to have decent ice by January. 

Saw 10 or so guys ice fishing saywer creek by oshkosh ave yesterday. Couple of them had pan fish on the ice. Pretty funny

Winterboy, you are kidding right? No safe ice for at least three weeks yet, East side has pack ice about a block out then thin skim ice and then open water as far as I can see.

Another cold one tonight. Anyone think enuff ice by tomorrow to take the wheeler out?  Ma's getting hungry for some perch.

Took a tip from Waffles, #12 Green Firetiger Jerk bait. Last night on west side, 17", hit right after dark. Stayed til 9:00, but it was 1 and done.

I’ll bite. We all know the 12” taste better. Though the goats are better prepared right!

Well I'll be! Trolling's harder than I thought...thought I'd get at least one sucker to bite on the good eater comment. Caught my dinner and called it a night. A hair under 20".

9-930. East side. Shallow. HJ12. Windy. Wet. And the rocks are quite slick! 

I'm a trout guy, but I figured I'd try to catch a few walleyes for dinner...like fish in a barrel. Maybe I'll try trolling. What do people consider a good eater? Everytime I see a post about a good eater it's a scrawny 14"er.

9-11pm. East shore fishing. Size 12 husky jerk. Caught three 13-14" and a fat 23". Ended up eating smoked liver pate and toast for dinner.

Marked many schools of perch but they were a little tight lipped for us. Even the ones we did catch were just barely hooked and many spit the hook. Was a good last day in the boat for 2023, can’t wait for the lake to freeze over!!

Got into some smallmouth bass today on the west side reefs.  Fishing in about 7-1/2 ft with fatheads dead sticking or under a slip bobber.

Fished Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was way to rough but Sunday much better. Out of Columbia Park North on transition ended up with 15 nice Perch 8.5 ' to 11.5. Dead sticking with blood worms, gold hook or small jig 11 fow.
