Planning trip to holcombe/pine on Jan 19th. Curious about how well these temps are making ice? We require a quad to transport guy with recent surgery. Any updates appreciated.

Have heard numerous accounts of ice anywhere from 3 to 7 inches depending on where you’re at. Would like to know if anybody’s fishing in sportsman’s park yet

Ice: 3"
The ice is finally firmed back up on the more sheltered areas of the lake. It should be safe for foot travel in most areas by the weekend. Reports of some nice crappie and a few nice gills from the guys I fish with.

Haven't seen anyone back out on Cranberry yet, but cold nights have the ice, safe or getting safe over the rest of the week. Will post if we get out and get anything worth mentioning. Shorelines were too weak by me to get out before today.

Lake Holcombe is not suitable for travel at this time, warm temperatures and rain have deteriorated the good ice that we did have.. We have to wait for cold temps again.

Ice: 3"
Finally got out, and this is more of an ice report than a fishing report.

The ice where I was fishing was between 3 and 4". The shorelines are still sketchy. I didn't catch much but was glad to be out. Other fishermen I talked to said ice was thicker in other parts of the lake and thinner in some areas. Overall mixed results so far.

There are guys fishing on some of the back bays and other protected areas. The ice looks pretty sketchy to me and with the warm weather expected later this week, I would be extremely careful.

I have tried night fishing for walleye and crappie on Holcombe literally dozens of times and have yet to be what I would call successful. There is an occasional very short window of crappie activity but nothing worth freezing for. Generally speaking, the consensus among the guys I know, is that the fish stop biting about 1/2 hour after dark and that's that.

Good luck

Hey, I was curious if there is any sort of night bite thru the ice for crappies or walleyes on the flowage? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks
