Fished the past 6 days straight along the Nekoosa stretch of river down along the northern half of the lake. Water temperature has been on the rise each day. Couple days ago water temperature was 36-37 in the early morning and around 39 late afternoon. Last couple days water temperature in the early morning has been around 40 degrees, yesterday afternoon when left around 4 pm water temperature was 44.5 degrees water levels are slightly above summertime pool with bery little current, they jave had one gate half way open in Nekoosa last couple day’s. 90% of our fish are coming up shallow in 2-5 fow over mud flats, last couple day’s with the walleyes spawning they have been tight to shore in 2-4 fow over rocky areas. We have been pitching hair jigs tipped with large mud minnows work order on Jigs And Ringworms. These fish are really on the move when spawning, catch a few in some spots and lot’s in other areas, go back to previous spots and there just gone. Majority of the larger females we caught last 3 days have been spawned out! Still catch a few smaller females with spawn in them. White bass have started to move into the river starting to catch quite a few on the northern half of the lake on up into the river.
Anyone looking to get out on the water April-22nd,23rd,29th,30th are still open

Flow and level SLIGHTLY over summer pool up river. Current is manageable to fish with a 1/4 ounce jig. One gate wide open. Water temp is 41 degrees.
Reports of some white bass caught down river but I personally have not caught any. It's very spotty. Nothing I would travel out for yet.
Today we caught a lot of walleyes early. Few slots. Two were spawned out. 14 legals total. 5 kept. Of the legals caught, over half were females and a few were spawned out. Males are still milting. Minnows only caught a couple. We caught everything on plastic and husky jerks. Talked to a couple guys on shore and they had better success with live bait than we did. Scanned large sections of the river down from Ten Mile and didn't see many large pods of fish. Most fish seen were north of Ten Mile. There will be more pushes of fish coming through this week. The main spawn will likely be done this week.
