Wisc. River - Nekoosa (Walleyes)

Fun group of 6 guys out this morning with me and Guy4eyes Guide Service. It was very cold and windy, the water temp is down to 47.2 so we tryed to hide out of the wind (that didn’t work so well) but they did get some fish in the boats with a lot of small ones caught today. J-Mata Fishing

Out with Ron and teresa today,the weather was not the nicest and the river is very dirty, water temp was 51.2. Was out Tuesday caught 4 eyes one keeper and on real nice cat all on floating jig and minnow good luck keep line tight

Fished the last 3 day’s along the Nekoosa stretch of river! Water temperature is really on the rise last couple day’s 51-55 varies in some spots. Still a few walleye’s around the spawning ground’s, fewer and fewer each day majority are heading back out on the main lake. White bass have been moving up fast and being caught throughout the river. All our fish are being caught up shallow over mud flats or rocks in 4-8 fow! Some fish on plastics majority are being caught on hair jigs tipped with large mud minnow’s.

Let’s go fishing   

I had Steve out for a 1/2 day morning trip and the fish were on fire, we fished for walleye for 45 minutes, we had 7 legals in that time with Steve keeping his 3. We used stick baits and about every 3rd cast he had a fish on Lots of shorts,I only fished for 15 minutes the rest was all Steve.Then we went looking for great whites plastics at first then to flys tons of those, I keep 15 for my wife for fish tocos. This is why I do what I do! I had Ron and his young nephew James out today. James had never caught a walleye. He had a blast! I absolutely love seeing kids learning and catching fish! Water temp was 48.6 to start day and end at 53. They went home with a limit each and some white bass for a big family fish fry this week. We fished 4 to 16 ft today using plastic, live bait, rip n raps and hair jigs. The walleyes today didn't want bait moving hardly at all. I have May 10, 11, 12 and 18th open if you want to get fishing.

First time in this spot on a boat. Brought the little 14ft. Got a quick limit in a 15ft hole. Jig and minnow. One was spawned out. Great morning! Looking forward to many more days out on the river and Petenwell 😁

Fullday turned in to a half day, Toby,Cody and Earl joined me this morning and the bite was wonderful, we had our 9 legals by 1030 and then went looking for great whites, when we found them it was fun for about 1/2 hour almost every cast,So they decided to call it a day and start there way back to Iowa. Water temp was in the 50 and it was pleasant not having the wind this morning. Plastics worked but minnows where the king today. Walleyes with those warts/bumps been around for a long time. Caught eyes with that disease 30 years ago. It is not harmful according to the DNR. I asked years ago and have ate plenty of fillets from fish with them.
