Monona Bay

DECENT BITE FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD REGARDING YESTERDAY.   I AM MAKING THE TWO HOUR DRIVE TO FISH IT.  NO SAFE ICE IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS.  IF YOU DON'T GO, YOU DON'T KNOW.

Is there still ​ice to ​get out 1 more day? Any reports from today?

DID REALLY GOOD YESTERDAY WITH A FRIEND.  WE EACH CAUGHT WELL OVER 100 FISH WITH LOTS OVER 8".  PLASTIC AND A SPIKE DID THE TRICK.  COLOR OF THE JIG AND PLASTIC DID NOT MATTER.  FISHED TILL JUST BEFORE DARK.  ICE WAS GETTING  VERY SLUSHY AT THE END OF THE DAY.  HOPEFULLY IT WILL LAST THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND.  SEEMED LIKE EVERYBODY WAS GETTING FISH.  ONLY TWO CRAPPIES ALL DAY THE REST WERE GILLS.  I HAD ONE OVER 9" AND FRIEND GOT ONE AT 10".  HOPE TO GET UP ONE MORE TIME THIS WEEKEND.

The ice is getting soft. I would say about 4 to 5 inches of ice left on the bay where i was fishing. Not many days left. People on the bay and Triangle today. I would say tomorrow and maybe Friday will still be fishable but be careful. The fishing was the usual Monona bay bite. Lots of fish and lots of people. Best bite was from 8 till 11. 

I also am wondering how the ice is looking. I’m hoping to go tomorrow (Thursday) for one last go.

Anyone able to report ​how the north triangle looks?

I’d greatly appreciate it 

How is the ice holding up? Thinking about making the drive from central WI tomorrow 

We fished from 10 / 4 and kept a few. I  wish that they would have been a bit bigger. Oh, well, it was still good to get out.
My biggest was 8.5 

Out all day.  Caught fish all day.  One crappie at sunrise the rest were gills. Best bite first two hours and last two hours. More small ones than a week ago.  You'll have to sort.  I had 8 inches of ice. The first two inches melted compressed snow the next six was good yet.  Who knows how long it will last.  My season is done.  Off to warmer climate for two months.  Reporting will start again in April. Rat out.  

Huge shout out and thanks for the yahara fishing club, the fishing jamboree was fun and my son caught his first blue gills there. Ice was about 5 inches and people were catching gills like mad.
