Fished today with 2 gentlemen who never fished the flowages before!

Water temperature this morning was only 62 degrees, wind was blowing pretty good out of the north northwest. Around 9 am lake went flat calm and the water temperature was on the rise again.

Today we fished 3 different spots out on the main lake in 14-20 plus fow! Caught a few on dead sticks with black tail chubs, majority of our fish we caught after 9 am on 1/4oz dragging jigs tipped with large fatheads.

Good luck be safe!

Let’s go fishing.

Bite on the flowage last 3 weeks has been solid!! We have been targeting the edges  the main river channel in 12-23 fow over wood structure . Some mornings its a combination bite of dead sticks and vertical jigging. Dead sticks- black tailed chubs worked best with colored hook tight to bottom. Vertical jigging we have been using Bfishtackle dragging jig tipped with large fatheads. Mid day and afternoon its been all vertical jigging, today I had a few bites on crawlers.

We did troll cranks and boards a few day’s in the afternoon. We trolled main lake flats in 12-18 fow running our baits high up in the water column targeting suspected fish. Trolling speed needed to be around 1.7-2 any faster we couldn’t get bit. Joined flicker shads in bright colors worked the best.

We also have been catching a good numbers of crappies! Putting the large majority of them back to to spawn. There the bite has been solid early morning and late evening. All out crappies we caught pitching plastics.

Looking to get out on the water, june -8th,9th,10,14th,15th,16th are available.

Good luck be safe!

Let’s go fishing

Put in some work today on Petenwell with JJ and his group. They didn't come easy but we ended the day well. We stayed away from the north end with all of the current and dirty water. Points with steep breaks away from the channel held all of our fish. Bright colored jigs with fatheads and 3 inch plastics. We ended with 8 legals, 4 slots, and between 20-30 shorts, one crappie, one big perch, and a few cats. The biggest slot was 29 1/4 inches and was released. Water temps ranged from 61 to 67 degrees.

Just wanted to give a big shout out to Jason mata for organizing the veterans event and all of the other guides and locals that gave up their day to take out the 30 vets. It is so cool to see the guides and locals giving back to the vets. Hats off to you guys. You all are truly some of the best guides in the state.

No trip today? No worries from me! I RARELY get out alone to scout and play around. I started just south of Longview and worked all the way to the middle of the lake south east of 10th street. I fished primarily the west side all day. Fish had lock jaw early. By noon they started to suspend which made for a fun bite on slip bobbers and casting with the forward facing sonar. I caught a ton of shorts and brought in a limit for the next fish fry when the family goes camping in a few weeks. At the end of the day I went looking to see if the crappies had moved out to their post spawn haunts and was rewarded with some real nice fish! Also caught a few perch that were released. I'm optimistic that tomorrow's guide trip will go well! Water temp was 63 degrees just about everywhere I went. The most active bite was in 16 to 22 fow. I was NOT fishing channel break lines or major humps. Fatheads and crawlers caught fish. Casting chubs was best for bigger fish.

On petenwell today with Cassandra, Catherine, Will and Scott. We trolled this morning in 6 to 10 ft with an array of colors. This afternoon we did some jigging and deadsticks on 17 to 23 ft of water with live bait. Brighter jigs did best!
I have June dates open of your looking to go fishing and smiling like this great family!

Happy mother's day all, and thank you for allowing a few of you beloveds to fish today, Chad and Kevin fish with me a couple times a year, this time the brought Grant with them. Today hot but also very windy! We began jigging and dead sticking, walleye were abundant but scattered. Live bait bite, Chad got his pb equal at 27. About mid day we went trolling. The fish would only bite running one direction! We caught walleye legals and shorts, goats and wb, also had biggest walleye I've seen in a couple years come undone just behind boat,   Kevin and both will see that one for years! Water temp 63.2 when we left! I have May 27th open as well as June 1 through 7 if your looking to go fishing, smiling and catching as well as some other June dates!
