The Fox River is my greatest river i've fished in and just a month ago i caught a 2lb. smallmouth and a sunfish. Just use spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and plastic worms to get the bass biting or use a live leech those work good too.

The Fox by Algonquin has great fishing. Sheepshead are most commonly caught, with small catfish coming in second. Smallmouth bass and larger catfish are caught but not as common as the first two fish mentioned. Bluegill, whitebass, largemouth (can be big!) and crappie are occasionally caught but are usually above average in size. The three best ways to fish the Fox in the pool above the dam at Algonquin are using a crawler on a plain weightless rig, a crawler on a weighted rig, and finally, a cut suckerhead for catfish. Partly cloudy days seem to have the best bites.
