Maybe was an auto-correct thing...type in rut and auto changed to runt? Anyway LL's have  been keeping it going for what ever reason.

Thank you, Ayefeesh for the information.  So in short, a made up word. I wonder if they realize that "runting" is an actual word with it's own meaning.

"Runting" is when only the small bucks are rutting. Runts + rutting = runting.

I've been out since Friday evening. Small bucks are definitely chasing does but each really mature buck I've seen has been by himself not doing much. I did see a few 2 or 3 year olds doing some runting but they weren't huge.  Yesterday in the wind and warmth i didnt see a single deer in stand and i sat almost the whole day other than an hour for lunch. This morning was by far the best for deer movement for me. I've seen a bunch of does and 7 bucks,  one really nice 9 pt and one giant that was at least an 8pt but maybe a 10, i couldn't get a super clear look at him. Only the small guys came close enough.  Unfortunately i have to head home in a little bit and won't be back until gun season. Things are only getting better.  Marquette County

Someone said runt and we have just been running with it LOL.  It was kind of impressive how many just picked it up and kept it going.  All in fun.

Was out 1 day this past weekend with my daughter.  Came close again but not close enough.  Saw 2 does, both being chased by a small buck.  One was 20 yards away and I had a clear view, but my daughter did not.  It ran after a doe and was gone...will try again this weekend I think.  Hard to go after school now with the time change, but we may run out for an hour if she asks.

Slow runt weekend again, sat Saturday AM, in Fondy perfect morning was going to sit til mid day and nothing other than the neighbor guy in his stand about 100 yds away get down at 8:30am and walk around then an hour later shoot guns behind me then after that take the kiddo for an atv ride down the trail 50yd behind me, what an absolute mooooooooooooooooooooorooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! But o well not my land so I left. Went back up Sunday PM and sat in a different stand and within 20 minutes had a spork come thru and hang out pretty much all of the night, and that was it. Back up to waupaca this weekend to sit a night hope the cold snap gets da runtin bucks up and moving a bit again.

goodhuntin all!

I think the burglar coined a new term: rut +hunt = runt!  LOL
