Our trip to the Chequamegon was successful. No runting activity to speak of though
First morning my daughter shot a doe, we watched it crash. 15 minutes later a small buck showed up but she didn't get a shot at it. It could have been trailing the doe, but not sure. My son and wife also saw a doe Saturday night but didn't shoot it. None of us saw anything Saturday morning. So we still got 1 deer for a quick 1.5 day trip. Glad it got cold out, I was prepared to quarter and put in coolers if need be but was nice to not have to do that.
Back home I have had more bucks on camera this past week, seems to be picking up.

Well with histiorically good action this past weekend I was hoping for some good runting activity but between my buddy and i we saw 5 doe and I saw a spork yesterday AM, that was it, weather was great but pretty slow, hearing mixed reports from around the state hot some places dead the rest, hoping to get out by inlaws in mt calvary, this weekend hope it kicks off.
Goodhuntin all !

Sat yesterday afternoon from about 1:30-close. Pretty slow but nice to be out for the first time in a LONG time. Around 3 I heard a snap behind me and I slowly turned my head to see a half rack basket 6 slowly walking in. Took some video with my phone and watched him rub a small pine for a little bit before he continued on. Kind of looked like the other side just never developed as I didn't see a bare spot where the pedicle would be. Certainly too young to lose it in a fight. Weird.
Saw a bunch of does and small bucks yesterday evening before the wind picked up. This morning saw a few does and a couple small bucks and one really nice buck around 8am. Got to about 75 yards of me. Nothing since then. I figured there was going to be alot of movement this evening but nothing so far.
Runting underway in the Coulee region lacrosse county. Yesterday evening Spike chasing after Mom and yearlings. Mom was bigger than the spike.
Today about 11am , real nice wide 8 skirted past the house looking for some lovetime. My deer woods is flooded. Hopefully get back after them next week.

My brother in law shot a buck during his first sit earlier this month and has enough to do that he won't be going after a doe, meaning his crossbow would be sitting idle. Can't allow that to happen lol. Did some target shooting with it and was (unsurprisingly) very accurate. Not much of a learning curve apparently. With the weather predicted for Saturday, I think I may just get a license for the first time in a dozen years and enjoy an afternoon among the trees!
