Walleyes, whitebass, and bluegills are on the chew! Walleyes are around Eddies and current seams, whitebass are on current seams, and the bluegills have been in the flooded trees! Now that the river crested again,  we should be returning to "normal" summer pool levels here on pool 8 within a week or so.  I anticipate fishing to be even better! I've got full days open next week for $100 off! Let's go fishing!

Was doing some casual birthday fishing on Pool 8 Tuesday night when I hooked into something I definitely wasn't expecting. I had heard that they had been caught around here on occasion, but this was the first time actually seeing one in person.  Kind of cool to catch a new species, but definitely not cool that they are invading our home waters of the upper Mississippi. My guess is the higher waters this spring allowed a lot more to move upstream despite the various barriers and such that are in place to prevent that. Anyone else been seeing more of them or was this just a fluke catch? Also when I dropped it off to the DNR for testing they told me that they taste incredible, so if anyone else catches one I guess fire up the smoker. Definitely don't release it! Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come.

Fishing has remained good and the river is dropping nicely! I've got some openings over the next 2 weeks.  Been a tough spring with the flood- so I'm offering the next 3 people that book with me $50 off their trip! Let's get back to fishing!

Fishing has been good for white bass and walleyes despite the high water. The river is now receding and looks like we'll beable to get clients back on the water within the next 10 days.  Finding fish 8-15' deep out of the current. Flies, plastics, and minnows are all producing.

Put together a video of the La Crosse & Onalaska area boat landing conditions. Pretty crazy to see pike swimming around in a parking lot!

A decent Saturday on Pool 8 below the Dresbach Dam. Once I figured out what they wanted, I caught a fish on each drift, so not fast and furious, but still a great day to be out!

With the incredibly low water, for early spring, are people fishing new locations for perch?

Often it has been 10-12' at the end of March in pool 8.

There's nothing like spending a day catching big perch on the mighty Mississippi. I have some days open if you would like to catch some. 920-493-8899

I have a few openings  coming  if you'd like to get a learn a few things and catch some fish

that picture of the Genoa Power Plant launch is on Pool 9, not pool 8. It's Lock and Dam #8, but is the start of pool 9.

Yes, we've all been fishing in lead suits to protect us from a leak that happened 100 miles away, wasn't in the river, and hasn't even caused a single evacuation in the town where it actually happened.
