The name of the game lately has been willow cats on wing dams. The walleye fishing has been incredibly good. We keep moving until we pop an active fish or two. Catch a few, move, catch a few move. It's been fast and furious somedays with as many as 50 legals in a few hours!Bluegills on top of the wing dams has provided excellent action as well. If you're looking to get out and learn a thing or two, I'd be happy to show you! Schedule is getting busy, let's get your next great day on the water booked!
Heading up this Saturday to fish this area for the first time. Not looking for any honey holes, just a point in the right direction going for mainly walleyes, perch, and crappie. Where to launch and get willow cats.
Feel free to PM me any info helps thanks in advance!

MID DAY CRAPPIES
On the water today @ 1030 am, while waiting for numerous bass boats to launch from Vets park. Tried several wing dams main channel, a couple of short walleyes, 1 s m bass, and a few overeager bluegills. Not the action I was hoping for, being that the wing dams in low water conditions can be very good. Started looking for deeper water and some structure. I have a Lowrance elite 4 hdi for a graph, so i either have to run over, or into structure. Found several places that showed some promise, and were fairly close together. The marks that were showing indicated schooling fish. Perch, crappies, clutter? A slip bobber and a crappie scrub produced a 10 inch crappie. Game on! Two more crappies to the boat and the action ceased. The marks were still there but the desire was not. I removed the slip bobber, kept the 1/32 jig head , and crappie scrub, tennessee shad in color, and moved off the marks, allowing for a short cast to the area. Game on! These fish wanted to chase. My grandson was with today and for the next 2-3 hours the crappie catching was like something I have not seen in a long while. A spot would cool off make a move to another, work that area, going back and forth as the action ceased. Kept 12 for a fry. 6 foot ultralite rod, 4 lb test mono, 1/32 jig, crappie scrubs. Did not count numbers but would guess 50 + fish to the boat today. Once in a while you are just there.

Dropped the Marcum underwater camera down and left it recording while my wife and I were fishing on pool 8. Pretty cool to see all the variety below the surface on a Mississippi River Wingdam. Warmer ?temps and dropping water levels has definitely ?moved fish towards main channel structure.
Fishing for crappies and walleyes has been very good! Several walleye trips the last week with limits coming in 15-30 minutes on steep ledges with willow cats. A few clients getting their personal bests as well! Crappies have been pre spawn staged along drop offs as well. It's never a bad day on the river, but the days with 4 casts and 4 beautiful walleyes will never get old! Have some openings next week if you're looking to get out!

Ledges
Well things have once again changed rapidly- water Temps have skyrocketed into the mid 70s, and the river has dropped like a rock. Fishing is incredibly good right now for white bass and crappies. We're catching some trophy white bass in the 18" range. The crappies we're seeing are post spawn and set up along drop offs, and some on deep wood. Minnows, and plastics are both working well. I've got some openings, let's fish!
