Can somebody tell me how the fishing is going on Poygan. I have a place in Pine River that I use for a cabin but I haven’t fished down there for years. I got the grandkids coming down and I plan on pulling some boards. I am putting in west side and don’t care if we catch Sheep’s, whites or walleye. Just need an update on the fishing
Thanks.

H&H,
There's a launch on the west side at the corner of 35th and Badger. Other’s on the north side include Tustin, Indian Point, Alder Creek, Boom Bay and the old Duck Inn. I would look at the weather forecast and fish the better day, hopefully with a bit of a chop as that usually helps the bite.

I'd like to come down this weekend and do a little trolling. I've never been out here on open water. I'd like to fish midday until dusk...probably Saturday, but maybe Sunday if Saturdays are a circus.
What's the best launch? Preferably on the North or West side.
Any tips are appreciated.

All the fish I've been getting This year has been in Horseshoe hole. You have to start out trying different depths, colors, speeds and direction of your troll. I usually use #5 flicker shads and #5 jointed flickers 30 to 50 foot back on Poygan. I find you can get a hot lure that works when fishing is tough. I will keep using it and change a treble hook after the last barb has broken off while another lure with the same color does not work. The hot lure has just the right action. When I fish a body of water I put a GPS mark every time I catch a keeper walleye. Over many years of doing this I find the bulk of the walleyes are more concentrated in some areas of the hole. So when I hit the water I check those areas and if I'm not getting anything I expand my area and change presentations. When you get one, double back and work the area. I find I only get walleyes when going in one direction most of the time and it can be going into, down or cross wind.
Pokey- can you point me in a direction for where to troll? My father in law is looking to get out trolling this weekend and he hasn't been out in decades. He used to put in by Pony creek park back in the day. Where from there should I send him trolling? Any other tips. Thanks in advance and appreciate your reports recently.
