Has anyone been off of Captains Cove yet? I'm thinking about giving it a try Monday.

Norwegian Bay is finally froze over and guys are walking out. You can see where the freshly frozen over areas are so be on the look out. They are going out off the south shore some with atv but most on foot. Be careful out there and bring your safety gear no ice is safe! Don’t know ice depths or catch reports. Just letting you know they are venturing out now. By the way the ice is moving a lot and cracking a ton. By ready for taking a different way back in.

Looking out over Norwegian Bay today there is still three large areas of open water. The areas that froze over are covered with frost and don’t show up so easily. The ice is moving a lot today and cracking significantly. There are guys going off of the north shore but I don’t know from where or the condition over there. Check with someone before you go and bring your safety gear.

I Live on Norwegian Bay and there is a lot of open in the area. Out from Alder creek to the canes, there is a total of five larger spots of open water. They were shrinking but very slowly. A lot of the snow blew off the lake so it should make good ice this week. There are going to be some large cracks and heaves that are developing due to the winds and the ice moving. You can see this stuff pretty easy from shore with binoculars. I wouldn’t recommend ice travel just quite yet. Give it a day or two for foot traffic. The horse shoe was all open water yesterday due to the wind.

Saw what looked like a pocket of open water out from Norwegian Bay yet this afternoon. At best it was just frozen, very dark

Looks like a lot of the snow blew across the ice. A lot of the lake had barely froze prior, so there were big areas that were wet on top that should soak up the moisture. It’ll freeze this week, but it won’t be real good ice.

Saw a facebook post, said 2" of slush and 2" of shakey ice. For as cold it will be getting would think it will tighten nice. Hopefully

Took a ride to the south shore landing, did not go out on the ice but i could see someone else did try and trek through the slush.  Gonna be interesting to see what happens to the slush with the cold weather coming in.

@walleyedmike,
Try this, it’s the army corps of engineers. They monitor the fox-wolf basin. As of yesterday for poygan it was 64.3. Hope this helps.
