If you're like Bob and haven't winterized your boat, you could fish almost anywhere on the lake/river right now and use most of the landings in Juneau County if you don't need a pier to launch.  I winterized around Thanksgiving after fishing opening weekend of gun season.  There's less ice than Jesse reported a few days ago and we have at least 4 more days of ice melting weather ahead.  I wouldn't count on ice fishing here anytime soon....I checked a couple small lakes in the county as well and they aren't great either, though I did witness a couple people ice fishing in a couple small ponds/lakes.

I have had a lot of people calling and asking about ice conditions and if the lakes open enough to put the boat in.

There’s a few areas with ice, west side of the lake “Buckhorn side” south of bridge down to the turtle with many large open areas. East towards old hi-line pole’s area is wide open.

East side of lake is wide open with ice floating around, some ice along shore 150-200 yards out!

Guy’s have been launching boat’s at 21 bridge and fish up towards the Dam, launch looked good and snow and ice free as of yesterday.

Guy’s looking for something to do tomorrow morning, joe at the “Bighorn Store” is having a meet and greet with all us local guides.

I also have gift  certificates available.

Now booking trips for 2023-2024 fishing season!

See you guy’s tomorrow, let’s talk fishing!

May be a little early, but trying to get a couple of hard water trips set up. Don’t have a sled so we’ll be on foot. Not looking for hot spots, but any suggestions on areas to walk out from that are safe would be appreciated.  I’m located on the east side of the lake so would prefer to stay on that side but not against going around either.
Thanks!

River Channel
Fished 3 mornings last week with Emma and Tom. Folks just finished building their home couple weeks ago on the “Rock”

First morning we launched the boat and drove around the main lake. We trolled cranks and boards on both the east and west side of the lake. East side was very green and very weedy in spots didn’t play around there much, did catch 10-12 short eyes, perch, white bass and pike, everything went back. Water temperature was in the mid 70’s little warmer in shallower water.

Day 2 and 3 we jigged many locations from river to, river channel edge and some deeper holes down in the wood down towards the castle rock dam. We caught a majority of the fish jigging weedless Draggin’ jigs tipped with half crawler. Also caught quite a few with bottom bouncer and slow death hook with a half a crawler

Anyone looking to get out and fish, I have September- 25th,26th
October- 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th still available

Good luck be safe!

Let’s go fishing!

These were my take home fish the last two days.
I did not put a lot of time in. Day one I caught 6 species, day two 5 species. Pitching jigs was the best of three techniques for me.

Bart booked a half day trip with Anthony and Anthony’s father. Fished with these guy’s a couples times on Petenwell over the past couple weeks for walleyes, this time guy’s wanted to target Musky!

We launched the boat at 5:45 and and fished till 11 am. Water temperature was what I thought cool enough to target them. Water temperature was 68.9 in the early morning and around 71.5 when we headed back to the launch.

Sunday we fished many different area’s in 4-8 fow over weeds and wood structure. Mid morning we fished couple deeper areas in 10-12 fow!  Sunday Bart caught a very healthy pike up shallow on orange and gold glide bait and had another boat side strike from either a pike of same size or possibly could’ve been a Musky in the lower 40s range didn’t really get a good look at it. That fish came on a Lee Lures boilermaker.

Anyone looking to get out on the water this fall I have some open dates. We can target panfish, Muskie, bass or walleye

Good luck be safe!

River Channel
Late report from this past week. Fished with a very nice couple who we’re spending some time camping at Castle Rock country park campground.

Water temperature was 71.5 in the early morning and around 75 when we headed back to the launch. We jigged along the main river channel in many different spots in the river. Deeper holes in 10-14 fow produced most of the fish also caught a lot of fish tight down in the wood. 1/8th oz Bfishntackle draggin’ jig tipped with half crawler worked best.

Anyone looking to get out this holiday weekend, I still have Friday September 1st, Saturday 2nd, Monday 4th still available.

Good luck be safe!

Let’s go fishing
