Devils Lake (Devils Lake State Park In Baraboo)

Hello, does anybody know the current ice conditions? Would like try ice fish it this weekend. I will be pulling two person flip over shack full of gear by hand, I hope there isn't much snow cover. Thinking of using boat ramp southwest of the lake. Coming out to fish this lake for the first time, anybody wants to join to guide me and/or keep a company, I have a free spot in the shack, will provide minnows as well. I will have livescope too which is good for two people at once.  

Trout is the staple of the lake.  They stock them every year.  Winter is a great time to fish for them as you can easily access the deeper water where they hang out.  If your track chair can go out on the ice, that would work.   There is a boat launch on the south West side of the lake near where most people fish for the trout.  There is also bass and pan fish readily available along with a few northerns.  

If you are talking about open water fishing, there are many places along the lake that you MIGHT have access to, but I don't think there are any handicap accessible docks or anything like that which would get you off shore at all.  The trout can be caught from shore in the summer, but it is tough even for someone that is readily mobile and able to access the best casting locations from shore.

I have never fished here before. What type of fish are in the this lake ? Also what is the lake access like? I am handicap and can't get around real good. Is there a launch? Picture is for attention and is how I get around.

​Ice is forming but the lake is still about 90% open.

Typically I fish here close to the first week of January and there's about 6 inches of ice at that time.  Each year can be different though but due to its clear, deep water and springs it typically freezes a little later than other waters in the area.

Like Green Lake, Devils Lake will freeze later than other area waters due to it's deeper depth. Probably won't be frozen with safe walkable ice for at least a few weeks, or more with forecast.

Devils Lake has no ice and is wide open.
