Am and Pm trip below Castle Rock Dam today. We boated 29 eyes this morning 4 legals and a slot at 25.5. Then Robbie of The Castle Rock Dam Bait Shop jumped in the boat with me this afternoon. We had rain sleet hail and some thunder to deal with. We boated around 25-30 fish. 1 slot at 22.5 and 5 or 6 legals but we weren't keeping track.
Fish today were all caught in 6-15 FOW. Dark colored jigs and plastics were best. A slow presentation was key to getting bites as we worked current seams and dropoffs swept with the current
Had a few March dates open up.
March 9th and 10 15th 16th and 17th 19-21st and 24th
Water temp was 38-39

No magic depth

There is no magic depth at all. There's little flow and the fish are spread across the river. There's no reason for them to be stacked along specific seams. I've been catching in 4 fow and 30 fow and everywhere in between.

Hey, might be heading up in a boat this weekend. I was wondering if there was a specific depth they are staged at. Also, is there a pattern? Like relating to current seems or I know of a few rock piles down there. Any info is great! I usually fish from shore so I don’t know a ton

Fished a full day below Castle Rock dam, braving yet another cold and windy day.  Our efforts were fruitful. We boated 75 walleye and one buffalo.  All fish came off of jig n minnows. Chartreuse, dark green and orange were our best colors. Ended day with 12 legals and 1 slot at 25 inches.  Water temp was 37.7.
I have a few days the last week of Feb still available.

Yes, the bait shop is still there and doing well. I don’t know if it’s open during the winter but I was there this fall and it always has everything I need!
