As the temperatures have risen, the fish still hold the same patterns as they would in any other winter, In deep pools all schooled up. In my neck of the woods, finding that window of opportunity when the fish are feeding. You could almost step on them some days, and other days they scatter at the slightest movement, This is the second Tiger Trout that I have caught, the first one was back in 2019
Water temp hovering in the mid 30s. Visibilty is about 1.5-2ft. Not ideal, but the last of my thawed spawn is giving off a formidable aroma! Managed a nice chrome jack out of a deep tailout. Ice is forming overnight. Hoping to get one more outting before it locks up.
Lake run browns are on their way back downstream and holding in pools. Never have I seen so many fish feeding so heavily on the surface. And passing on my presentations. Saw a few steelhead cruising the harbor but no takers. Bring on the rain! Who likes to ice fish anyways?
