In this episode, I took a drive south to Pepin County, Wisconsin to finish the fishing trip that ended due to a gear malfunction. The day started off a bit slow at first then WHAM! they started biting non-stop for the rest of the day! I ended up traveling ways upstream to do some scouting around and jumped in for some more action and a wee bit of trouble at the end with some DEEP mud and a steep bank to try to climb up to safety LOL

The Evening Report.
The morning temp was in the low 60's, indicating I needed to abandon my easy chair and hit the trout stream. I'm not gonna catch trout sitting at home. The stream was low and the water clear. There were no bugs to distract my focus on life below the water surface. Right from the start, small brook trout, less than a foot long showed interest in the lure. 2 of the spotted char gobbled up the lure and I released them. They were barely hooked and they were next year's fish. There was no beaver damage, and little sign of human activity on the stream. No otter activity showed itself on our stream. I did manage to kick up 2 keeper brook trout. But they would not take the lure. The orka size trout I sought were nowhere to be found. I did find one tag alder tree with quite the grape vine weighing it down. I did not check to see if the grapes were ripe. I hope the grapes will bring in ducks this fall. The cool temps reminded me of the autumn harvest season to come.

In this episode, I take another trip over to Pierce County to do a quick morning trout fishing hike. The first spot I tried had no bugs flying around or fish rising, but I still caught a few, so I jumped out and went to another downstream spot with bad results. I went a little ways south to Pepin County and went to a tiny crick not sure if I was wasting my time and had AMAZING results!
Trout can still be caught in the heat of the summer if you fish early. I would strongly encourage to not fish for them the next week however with the forecasted temperatures. Not only will fishing be slower, but it can put a lot of stress on the fish when catching them in those those conditions.
