Took one last trip to the Fox with my son and dad on Saturday morning.  Fished Rochester and Waterford Dam.   Classic river day catching at least one of the following species: crappie, white bass, yellow bass, walleye, smallmouth, largemouth, perch, drum, rock bass, sunfish, and bluegill.  Six keeper white bass and 5 keeper crappies all still swimming.  All caught on minnows and Mepps #3 spinner.  Ended the day and probably the season with a 19 inch largemouth.

Was a tough day out there...

The wind was blowing strong, so boat control was about impossible, even with a little Jon Boat.

The steady cold wind made it tough going, but knowing that there are only a couple of weekends left, decided to give it a try.

Tried five spots, only one of them held active fish.  For the most part it was small yellow bass, they were just a nuisance today, you couldn't keep your line in the water long enough to catch something worth talking about.

Ended the day with a drum, one small largemouth bass, and as many small yellow bass as you would like.

I had planned on staying out all day, but after three hours, the wind had taken its toll, and I headed in around noon.

I believe it was the least productive day of the year, but I still had fun trying, knowing that a month from now soft water fishing will be over...

Nice Job on the Fall eyes TD!

Have not seen you post in a bit, hope you got out a bunch!

I was really looking forward to getting out this Saturday, but it looks rainy, and windy!

Hoping they're wrong, it's going to be over in a couple of weeks, so would love to get out!

I may head out either way. We'll see what Saturday brings...

Great evening to be out on the Fox. Messed around a little bit and ended up with 5 eyes. Small jig and plastic was the ticket. Hopefully this rain the next few days will get the fish moving a little more.
Here are a couple from tonight.

Thanks for inviting me out Brent. I really enjoyed the fishing and the company. Fishing was nice and steady, and am hoping we can get out together again, if not this fall, then next summer for sure!

38-55o is magic in the lake BRENT , Ihave a hunch that as the water starts getting cold that the majority of fish in the river migrate into the lake to get away from being frozen out, instinct perhaps. It’s nice to hear that you are doing well in the river as there’s not much going on by me.    The shoreline at nite has 1000s of minnows under the shore lights and that’s part of the problem.    As the water cools down they disappear and the fishing picks up.

I agree CM, current is zipping!!! You had a great season if you don't make it out again - congrats!

Made it out today for a few hours with my neighbor (good fishing bud).

He was using fatheads, and a swim bait, and I was using crawler halves on one pole and a mini-mite tipped with a gulp fry on the other.

We caught 4 Walleyes today.  A 19, 18.5, and two 14's.

We also caught Rockies (they always show up to the party lol), smallies, Yellow Bass, Crappie, Gills, a Pike, and the 2nd flathead of the year.  The flatty was just a little guy, around 14 inches, but he has to have parents!  Would be nice to see some bigger ones, I'm sure they're in there, but we've never caught one bigger than 14.

The Crappies all came on large fatheads. 1 eye came on a fathead, 1 on a crawler half, and 2 on a mini-mite.  Thought that was funny.  Had never caught an eye on a mini-mite before this afternoon lol!

Fall is my favorite time of year, and today's temps were just awesome for being out in a boat on the first day of October.  I think we have three maybe four weekends left, and then it'll be done until Spring.  Once the water gets below about 45 to 50, we don't catch a darn thing.

They're still in there, but I sure don't know how to catch  them!  I'm sure some of you know how to do it when the water is that cold,  I've just not had much luck!

Nice catch Brent, my day didn't go so well.
Started at Echo Lake after a half hour with no bites I put the kayak back on the truck and went to the Fox river where I've been fishing. The water was high and the current pretty strong and it just wasn't happening today. Didn't catch a fish and I think that's it for me this year.

Made it out this morning with salmon17604.

Found a consistent bite.

Caught Gills, Yellow Bass, a Kittiy, Rockies, Drum, and Smallies.

Funny, when we moved to a new spot, we must've anchored on top of a pile of Yellows.  Caught about a dozen in 20 minutes - then they disappeared. They sure are scrappy and a bunch of fun to catch!

Going to have them for dinner in a little bit here!

Plastics and crawlers both worked well.

Was fun hanging with ya Salmon!

Yesterday and today was a really nice time, might sneak out tomorrow again too!  Weather is about perfect.

Just love being out on the water!

Took a half day of lost time and headed out for a bit!  It's close to being over, so want to try and get out as much as I can. Had a close friend from Milwaukee come with that I had not seen in about a year - so it was good to catch up.

Caught lots of fish today! Gills, Yellows, Rockies, LM Bass, and Smallies,

Small plastics doing well for pannies, crawlers doing well for LM and SM Bass.

Had a really nice something on this afternoon, it was really powerful. Thought it was a big kittie, but it bit me off, so thinking it was a pike.  Was fun for about 30 seconds lol!

We'll be back at it tomorrow, was a bunch of fun!

Supposed to be 80 tomorrow, and about half that the following Saturday lol - get out while you can!!!

rjdrez2, nothing has changed you might be confusing my recent reports from the fox river in Burlington with the new spot on Echo lake I haven't fished yet. If you're catching walleye and smb wading you have a good spot, fish it more.
I like the Zechel island area because it has the white river and honey creek flowing into it and it's not huge but that end of Echo lake is a pretty good size area with probably an abundance of food. I would guess the further you go up white river and honey creek the smaller and fewer the fish are but I do like a couple bends in the white river just up from there, I probably wouldn't venture too far up honey creek.
Some people have message me offering suggestions of where I could fish, maybe it's the way I post my reports it reads like I'm looking for help, but I like figuring things out myself and sharing the details on here hoping maybe one day I could help someone out.

Catman JJ, My father used to take me fishing from shore on what is the Honey Creek 50+ years ago.  We would be by the airport.  All we ever caught was carp and bullheads.  Hass the fishing changed?  I wade the river between Rochester and Burlington and catch smallies, walleyes ect.  We never really saw much of those back then and I'm just wondering the quality of the fish caught above Echo Lake has improved also.

salmon17604 there isn't anything in that pond worth fishing for.
Carpio I checked out upstream and didn't see anywhere I could get my kayak in and it didn't look that great on google. When I went to Zechel island with my grand daughter I had  fishing rod and some 1" gulp but she didn't let me fish that much and only caught one little LMB but I'm going to go there on Saturday with minnows and worms and see what I can catch.
