My son goes Fox river fishing.  Gets big bass.  A nice pic is taken and fish swims away.  I encourage him to send photo into  one of the local
contests.  'Nah, no time.'  Then I see he was selected as a Kwik Trip winner!  Breakfast on you, kid!

Thank you Gents!

I started today in the spot that we left off yesterday.  Was the Dead Sea, the Crappies and Gills moved out! That is just crazy, they were in there thick yesterday, and completely gone today!

Went searching for them, and did finally find them in the river where you'd typically expect them to be in late Fall.  Found quite a few average Crappies, not a big one in the bunch, all 8 to 11.5.  I truly don't know what the deal was yesterday, all the big ones were schooled up in the same spot (and hungry) absolutely no clue why - but today they had vanished!  I've never witnessed that before, and I doubt I will ever be fortunate enough to see that many big ones in one outing. Something was going on yesterday that I don't get lol! The spot was odd too, no tree fall, no piers, no real structure, and they didn't hang out for but a blink! Did have a great time with salmon 17604! He got his PB Crappie, and threw it back, congrats my friend, that was awesome!

I did a little research yesterday, and learned that a Crappie's length is typically very close to their age.  That means many of the fish we caught yesterday were 14 years old, certainly nothing you would want to keep!  Certainly drove home the point of letting anything over 11 go back in the river to make more.

Caught a bigger variety in the river today.  Perch, Rockies, Gills, Sunnies. Green Sunfish, kitties, and Crappies.

Not sure why, but did try crawlers for a bit, the gills didn't even want any.  I tossed the rest of my crawlers, won't need any til spring!

Plastics and minnows is what they wanted.

Things are not lining up for me next week as of present, so today may have been the last day, not sure quite yet.

I'll do my best to make it out again, hanging onto soft water as long as I can!

It's not typical Carpio, just happened to find them concentrated in one area today lol.

I love Crappie and Walleye fishing, but today was one of those days that you kinda just stumble on - I doubt it will ever happen again.

They were not there last week, and they likely won't be there next week - just got lucky today.  Time and chance happen to us all - today I got  lucky!

I fish this spot frequently, and in 15 years have never found crappie where they were today.  Typically catch a few Gills and an Eye.  Have not found a single crappie there in 15 years lol! Dumb luck I think - but I'd rather be lucky than good :)

Made it out with a fellow lake-linker today.

Was the best Crappie fishing day of my life! Water was 44 degrees.

We threw back a 17, (2) 16's, (3) 15's, (4) 14's, and more 12's and 13's than I can count. We kept enough for a fish fry of 11 inches and smaller Crappies - let everything bigger than 11 go.

We also caught some dandy Gills!  A couple LM Bass, A Bowfin, and a Yellow Bass.

Such a fun day!  Nothing wanted a a crawler, not even worth using anymore.  A mini mite was the best bait hands down, color did not matter, followed by a simple minnow underneath a float.

Started work early so I could get off early, and squeeze a couple hours in behind the house before it got dark!

I caught four fish, which is four more than I had expected - my expectations were pretty low lol!

On our first spot, I caught three fish in the first four casts, thought we had found the mother load, but only caught one more fish in the next two hours!

Caught 3 smallish smallies, and 1 small yellow guy!

One smallmouth on a fly targeting eyes (it was a homemade fly made by the legendary Gil 1774), and two on a mini mite (targeting crappies).  The YB came on the mini mite too.

Going to head out tomorrow and give it a serious try!  Coming with plastics, minnows, and crawlers.

I just enjoy being out there, if we catch anything that will be a bonus!

More to come...
