Big Cedar Lake

Went out for a while this morning and caught some small perch. Not a whole lot of action once again, hard to find fish with the weeds being flattened out throughout this whole lake. 
Some bozo also decided to cut a big ass hole in the ice, and Then filled it back in with snow. Didn't think people were dumb enough to do this still. I scooped out the snow and marked it with a stick. It's near the launch opposite side of gonring. Happy my kid wasn't the one to step in it. 

First fishing was OK this am. Gills on waxes. If anyone knows the contact for the Slinger fishing team. I  picked up some stuff where they were fishing that was left on the ice that I'm sure they want back. Msg. me and identify. Talked with Jay they will get back to me.

Fished today 7:30am - 1:30pm. Tough fishing, did a lot of walking. Set up tip ups and jigged. Caught small perch, Really Small perch and lost a walleye at the hole. 1 Flag today. Ice varied in thickness. 8 - 9 inches in most places, 11 inches in some areas. Several ATV's out. The forecast doesn't look favorable. Hope for some cold weather to continue this ice fishing season. I was out Weds, Ice was fine then but fishing sucked!   Going to Pike on Sat.  Saw one tiny gill.

Couple more pics of the Southside. There is a couple small open areas to the north. One being straight out SE of the little island . Sould be good to go in the next couple days.

Looks like the north end survived the storm pretty well and has locked up.  "Steam" is rising off all the open water on the south end as these cold temps and winds are extracting heat quickly.  Quite a few freezing degree days during the next 7 days, should help grow some ice on the north end.  Attaching a picture of the steam fog rising off the water on south end this afternoon.

Big Cedar had lots of open water during the snow. This should cool it fown enough to freeze well once the winds die down.Possible Friday  storm could be an issue. 

Who knows what the January 12-13 storm will do though.

I drove by today and thought, how cool would it be to troll for walleye 2 days after Christmas.
