@Mirroman, No, I'm not an idiot. I'm not drilling holes right off the launch.
Took my spud bar out yesterday and checked the ice off the launch. Ice hasn't been improving much at all. Also walked out about 20 feet or so and it started cracking so I checked myself out of there really quick. Rough year for ice conditions.

From the Big Cedar Lake Thursday Night Fishing Club:
We would like to announce that our event on February 17th will be changed to strictly a fundraiser under the tent. The ice fishing tournament will be removed. Due to current ice conditions the launch is not safe and the extended forecast is not cold enough to ensure the safety of all who would enter.
With that being said we will be moving forward with putting our tent in it's usual spot and host our event with raffles, food, and music like every year! We ask that you all spread the word so we can have a great turnout under the tent as we raise funds to stock Big Cedar Lake with walleyes and continue to make Big Cedar Lake a better fishery for all to enjoy! We will have guns, booze baskets, custom fishing rods, and meat raffles for all to enter and support our cause! Our event will be from 11am-4pm. We appreciate all our sponsors and look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday!
Please spread the word about our fundraising event so we can continue to make this a great day for Big Cedar Lake!

The Big Cedar Thursday Night Fishing Club Jamboree for Saturday will be held on Saturday. Due to ice conditions and in the interest of safety for all the event will go on as a fund raiser only. Tent will be up and all other activities will go on as usual beginning at 11:00am. Lunch, music, raffles,
This is the club's main fund raiser for the stocking of walleyes and other lake improvement projects. Please pass this along and stop out Saturday to support the club, Free give-a-ways for the kids and special kids raffles.

Due to unsafe ice conditions, the ice jamboree will not be having the fishing portion of the event, BUT still having the raffle portion. It is on February 17th, 11-4 pm. Please come for the raffles, food, and party. This event is very important for the club and they would appreciate all the people to still come and support them! They do great things for the lake.
Stopped by Gonring launch around 4:00 PM and not a car in the entire parking area, felt really erie considering it's February 10th. Still ice covered, but by the looks of it and the signs of people drilling holes right off the launch and not venturing out it must be unsafe. Hopefully the colder temps at night help, don't see the day temps helping much. AND, for the idiots that always think the best way to check ice thickness is to chuck rocks from the shoreline onto the ice, do us respectful fisherman a favor and stay off this lake!
