Manion Lake
5/21/12 @ 12:20 PM
I just booked a five day stay at Hyatt's Manion Lake Lodge, from August 5th - 10th. I was there a few years ago in June as that is where we ended a Boy Scouts canoe trip. We fished a littlle there so I know there are big Smallies and abundant Walleye. Can anyone share any other info. We are not into fishing much but this is a birthday present for my son and I think this might just get him hooked on fishing. Do I need special permission from my wife to cross into Canada with my son? I know we needed it for the scouts. We are bringing our own boat and any tips on live bait versus artificial would be appreciated.

Kanada fishing trip 1 of 3 is in the books this year.(June 14-22)
Fishing was fair to good as water temps were cold (59°-61°)for this time of year.
Water levels were slightly(10"-12")above normal for June.
Walleyes were scattered & were caught from 4'-24' of water.
Smallies were scattered as well. A few small males were caught shallow,& the big females were caught staging in 8' -12' of water amongst boulder fields.
Trout,& Pike were easy catches.
Weather was good except for Mon-Wed with storms, winds,& rain.
Next trip is in July

Half our crew of 4 couldn't make the June trip this year, but we had 2 volunteers step up to take their place in a timely fashion, thanks fellas!
Impatiently waiting for 34 days to pass till we start fishing and enjoying the Canadian shield lakes of the outpost camp in Ontario.
Ice went out on the main lake May 10,& the outpost camp lakes should be ice free in a few days. Water level looks to be at ave water mark,to maybe a bit high, picts 2,& 3
Anyway, it's way better than the 2021 water levels like in the first picture.
