(21)Spent a few hours yesterday afternoon fishing with my son. 5" ice where we were, a thin crust of freezing slush on top (no more than an inch). Cleats were helpful. After that cold snap I'm really surprised at the lack of ice.
Had a camera down which was helpful to pull the bait away from the scads of small bluegill. Crappie were present but either not in a biting mood or just didn't like the competition from the bluegill. We didn't have minnows, either - that may have helped.

Super tough day of fishing on Potato. Like always huge schools of crappies everywhere, but majority of them were around 4-5 inches. Had to really grind to get some good eaters. Plenty of ice out there, but wouldn't recommend driving any vehicles because of the soft ice due to the warmer weather. Caught all the crappies off of a wonder bread tear drop tungsten and powerbait mayfly plastic. My only tips are to move around and hole hop. This is 8hrs of fishing, so as you can see the fishing wasn't that great.
