Fishing license

If I buy a Illinois fishing license now does it expire on March 31, 2017 or March 31, 2018?

I suspect that if you purchase a 2017 license, it is not valid until April 1, though. I think if you want to fish between now and March 31, you must buy a 2016 license? 

Thanks, that was my question I guess. If a 2017 license was good from date of purchase, now, until March 31, 2018.

Just ask for a 2017 license, make sure it says 2017 and you are good until 03/31/2018. If you are doing it online you should have the option to select 2017.

I believe WI has a date ahead of their March 31 date when they will begin to sell 2017 licenses, but I don't have that info right now
