Has anyone tried trolling swim baits on the big pond for salmonids?? I've always wondered if they would work. Thought about putting them maybe 3 feet behind a dodger trolling at 2 or less. Thinking outside the box, always looking for a little wrinkle. If nothing else it makes for good entertainment value.

I've caught fish on 4" white Gulp swimming mullet and 4" Power bait behind a dodger. Problem is they only lasted about one fish as the salmon would tear them up. Too expensive for me and didn't use enough to get the sense of relative effectiveness.
A few years we used a 4" tube jig that was called alewife color and scented with anise. We rigged it so it was off center and would rotate nicely behind a dodger. I used to also catch a lot of fish on squids. We seem to go through cycles but once the reverse tied fly showed not so much experimentation until the recent invasion of meat rigs.
