If you like watching birds or have any comments about a cool bird in your yard or something, this would be a good place to discuss anything to do with birds.

My daughter had her first encounter with an oriole about 10 ft away. I was not watching the feeder. I seen she was in awe of Something. Looked up at he was chirping  at her. she was all smiles.

BMR,
With the houseplant leaves in the foreground and the RBG behind the window screen, the pic has that "pastel" look like a Vincent Van Gogh painting.

Today, while salmon fishing, my son found a newly hatched gosling (still had egg tooth on beak) all alone down by the Milwaukee lakefront.  The adults were nowhere to be found.  He peeped at it and the gosling ran toward him and would not leave his side, following him wherever he went.

My son couldn't fish that way, so he took the gosling back to his car, wrapped it in a towel, and went to various local parks looking for adult geese with goslings that would "adopt" the little guy.

The first 2 sets of geese with goslings didn't want anything to do with the newly hatched bird (their goslings were already much bigger and the adults hissed at it and tried chasing it away).  Finally, he found a pair of geese that had goslings that looked to be less than a week old (only slightly bigger than the one he had).  When he put the gosling down in the grass, the 2 adults came right up to the little gosling, introduced themselves, then took it in with their other 4.

Pics of gosling wrapped in towel in his car, adult geese coming to check out the orphan, then all of the geese walking away down to the water (red arrow pointing to adoptee).  Neat story.

Wish I had my phone/camera handy a short time ago. Had a Grosbeak, Gold Finch, Indigo Bunting on one feeder and a Cardinal waiting in line for a seat. It looked like a well decorated Christmas tree! LOL

May 4th is National Bird Day. Did you know that 454 different species of birds can be seen in Wisconsin?
