Newbe to here,
I plan to fish for catfish more this year around Guttenburg Ia. on the river.
I have tried creek chubs, crawlers, and stink bait, with mixed results.
Last year was my 1st with a boat, mostly fishing the wing damns and chutes along the Ia side rr tracks. The river last year was anything but normal with flow and levels, seemed to never settle down and stay "moderate"
I was told to use shad more often. So, how does one go about getting shad for bait, cast net ? Then if one needs to use a net, where does one start to find them, I have fished from the bank the last 20 years, but have never seen a school of shad, let alone thought about throwing a cast net at them ?
