Small lakes between Madison and Milwaukee and Chicago

Hi. I'm from Toronto, Ontario and I plan on heading to Madison to watch the Badgers. I want to spend a total of 3 or 4 days in the area of Madison or between there and Milwaukee. I will also visit Milwaukee and visit Chitown for a couple of days. Ultimately I'll then end up staying in Lansing, MI with a buddy for a few days. Anyway, I will be bringing with me an 11 foot inflatable boat (has a PA registration) in my trunk along with a 30lb thrust trolling motor. So I'm looking for small lakes and/or rivers suitable for my setup. Bass is my target and wouldn't mind mixing in some pike, musky and walleye. The obvious starting point for me is Lake Wingra. That is about the perfect size for my boat. Can you recommend other similar sized lakes with bass? I also like lakes with visible weeds and hopefully lily pads. Also a free launch or $5 max would be nice. This is the route I'm basically taking and would like some advice on which lakes to fish given the above criteria that are within the vicinity. https://www.google.ca/maps/dir/Madison,+WI,+USA/Milwaukee,+WI,+United+States/Chicago,+IL,+United+States/@42.4941104,-89.0655457,9z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m20!4m19!1m5!1m1!1s0x8806536d3a2019ff:0x4e0cfcb5ba484198!2m2!1d-89.4012302!2d43.0730517!1m5!1m1!1s0x880502d7578b47e7:0x445f1922b5417b84!2m2!1d-87.9064736!2d43.0389025!1m5!1m1!1s0x880e2c3cd0f4cbed:0xafe0a6ad09c0c000!2m2!1d-87.6297982!2d41.8781136!3e0 There is so much water I see on the map and it's hard to know what is private and what is public and what might require a state park permit, etc. And the abundance of water reminds of the area back home N, NE and E of Lake Simcoe. If the sharing of small lakes is discouraged, I'd appreciate a PM if you don't mind. Thank you.

I dont know what game you are coming to, or if you already came, but wingra is prime. I am from northern wisconsin and go to school in madison, and we have a good success rate for musky on wingra. I recommend fishing the shore along Edgewood College, as well as the shore directly accross from the beach. Small black bucktails (I know its a genaric bait but they work here well), and small walk the dog baits work well.

there's a lot of smaller lakes just off 94 in Jefferson and Waukesha county some examples: Golden lake, Silver lake, the 3 Genessee lakes, Lower Nebahbin they all have access and are small check them out under the Lakes section for more information, gives size, fish present, and access, plus bag/size limit information in most cases you can also find lake information and maps and launch data on the WI DNR site
