My family and I had to put down our 12 year old lab Sophie this past week. She was a wonderful dog. We will miss her. That being said I have a 19 year old daughter with Autism and mental impairment. With Sophie gone the disruption in her routine is very significant. She is already talking about getting a new puppy. I understand that. But I don't want to go through training a new pup in the winter. So we agreed to start looking at a new dog next spring. I would like some recommendations on breeders in southern Wisconsin. The dog is going to be hunted both upland and waterfowl. The big thing is the dogs ability to deal with my daughters ability to communicate. Sophie just knew how to deal with her in everyway. She was amazing and we got very lucky. Am I trying to make lightning strike twice or do you folks think this is a trait that all dogs have. The new dog has got some huge shoes to fill but filled there going to be if my daughter has anything to say about it.
