honda atv reverse problem

I have a 2003 honda foreman 450 that won't go into reverse it used to happen once in a while when it was real cold, but now it is all the time. any one else ever have this problem and is there a fix that doesn't cost an arm and a leg thanks

I've got a 2001 rancher ES and had a problem once with reverse. My son got hung up trying to climb tag alders at the cabin and knocked a wire off the sensor.

I had a Foreman ES that did the same thing. Mine was a reverse positioning sensor. Was about 200 bucks to have someone swap it out with a new one.

Usually the idle is to high preventing it from going into reverse or is hard to get to go in.
