Late report from Monday. We tried a few spots for panfish in the afternoon with no luck. Toward evening we found some active white bass and a few smallies mixed in. The white bass were busting minnows on the surface and the bite was red hot at times.I have been having my best ever year catching smallies. Here are a few I have caught recently including one I caught on this trip. Cool

Too bad the "wannabe wardens" have to get on here and and sound off. A good catch and legal. All you need to worry about is if you want to smoke them or deep fry them. They are excellent either way. Have not ever had a warden tell to let something go because it was the moral thing to do.

Better that be determined by the person who paid for the fishing permit. Without the "bad sportsmen" the rest of the "good ones" would not have the right to catch and release. Jeez, lighten up and let people enjoy the sport!

Fish Hunt...had some of your smaller mudcats two years back and they were delicious. Best eating fish I ever had.

Tom and Kelly said they had to work hard for these gills. Pretty nice bunch of bluegills!

Nice fish! It is really a shame that fish that big are kept. Look at the thrill of catching them and having a picture taken with them, and allowing someone else to do the same in the future. I fish flat heads a lot and keep some fish under about twelve pounds. Imagine the amount of mercury that is in a fish that old! If you look at the guidelines for catfish that young girl should only eat one meal of those fish in a month, and that does not take into account the size and age for the fish.

If they were legally caught with the proper licenses I believe the fishermen can do as they wish with their catch. I'm sure they weren't "thrown in ditch" after the pics. Blackened catfish is excellent "eatin"
