Still a little early for "safe" ice, but I found a chunk out there that had about 2 and a half inches of ice. A lot of the ice is only about 1 to 1 and a half inches though, so you definitely can't go everywhere. As for the fishing, I fished for 3 hours and had 1 flag and caught about a small 22 inch northern.
