I like the discussion on the panfish limits. I’m on the SW portion of the Chip and concur. I haven’t seen much change in gill sizes. The crappies seem somewhat smaller. The perch this year have been the best we’ve seen. It’s not been uncommon to see multiples in the 10” range. Time will tell on the overall effectiveness but definitely worth trying. Fished deep cribs once last week and really didn’t see much where I was.
Tight lines,
Rick R.

I think MOST guides are ethical & want to preserve the flowage & fisheries.
Keep the current panfish limits . Maybe add crappie size limits!

I've been fishing the southwest side of the Chip since the 80's.
Yes, we used ti catch great gills & crappies!
But i do agree,  there has been some over- harvesting & out-ridht poaching!
Now, we focus more on crappies & walleyes.
In the last 3 years,  we have put back more crappies & walleyes!
But, a BIG PLUS, we are catching more legal walleyes. We have a very positive reaction.

Has anyone noticed a positive result of the 10 panfish per day regulation be it more and or larger fish ? So far I haven't (smaller fish actually) but I'm curious what other folks are seeing. Granted we are only in year two. Good fishing, SC

Spent last week fishing the chip for musky periodically.  Weird cold front for most of the week.  Caught 2 but was only on the water for about 10 hours.  Fish were doing something different everyday, but most success was on the deep edge of bars and points that had River channel access.  Had four follows that came up from deep water underneath the boat, so do your figure eights and watch the graph.  Good luck, I’m sure things will change with this warm weather pushing in.

Nice to see you back in the fold Earlyretirement!!  seems like its been a while.  We ran into a snapper in Kallahan bay that would do the same thing, waited right under the boat like a spoiled puppy waiting for a treat.

The largest perch I ever saw followed a musky bucktail on cranberry/Chippewa Flowage.  I thought it was a walleye till it turned and saw the unmistakable bars, It was at least 20 inches, and I grew up in Green Bay and know my perch.

Back from fishing the JULY  4TH week. BASS were the cooperative species. Best luck was early AM with "leeches" on weed edges. What was noteworthy on this trip was the PERCH. Adding to my usual bag of BG for a fish fry were some nice plump perch. Walleye eluded me this trip and I had a zero count. Tried deep water, but that always seems more difficult for me. Water temp was high and I think that is keeping fish deep. Northern Pike were ALL "hammer handles".

It’s sad to hear about all the small fish.  I’m so fortunate to have fished it dozens of times in its prime.

First time ever on the chip. Spent 3 days fishing the last weekend in June. Awesome getaway, beautiful scenery (Drone shots in video are sick), and lots of small fish. Couldn't get into the bigger walleye's, they were all around 14-15". The pike were hammer handles, snot rockets, etc... No musky for us (Weren't fishing for them). Lots of smallies, like insane amount of smallies on leeches.

Thanks to Jenk's Bait and Tackle for steering us in the right direction, big thanks to Shady Nook for letting us come to your resort and take some pictures and videos! Beautiful place to stay, amazing people to stay with.
