Last time out it was so rough I quit before I got out all the lines. Out there to have fun and it wasn’t. I hope for a day with low wind, overcast and temperature not quite so deep plus some fish. I got the first three!
Set lines 170 feet of water 545, a little south of straight out at Port. Looked at the locator when we were going through 180 and saw ample bait and hooks. Setting rods all by myself so I waited until I had three Downrigger’s and two Dipsy’s out and I turned back before deploying the copper. 80 down it was 58 last time out there that depth was 64°. Got into 140 with no bites and turned to go back out. 2 color SWR down 85 magnum Sanburr RV fired. My partner was kind of slow on the retrieval and wonderef what was going on. Much to my dismay, the lead core was binding and filling one side of the reel. Thus I had to hand land it and let a rookie try to net it. He managed to slap it alongside the body twice before I told him that you really have to get it headfirst lol. We had a good laugh over that one but a nice three year old 8 pound king .
Kept trolling east, and when we got to about 230’the probe temperature dropped 5°. Not long after 85 foot Mag Sandburr took a dandy 9.5# bow rainbow. Kept going east for a bit and watch the probe temperature rise again so turned around. Hit the other Waypoint and rainbow 75 down on a Vandal flasher and pickled sunshine fly fired, jump four times and said goodbye..
And that was it folks! Four hours of watching fish go in and out of our Downrigger’s on the Panoptics and couldn’t even get a bump. Beat fish and hooks but they were not eating. A friend fishing in that same area had two small fish and a 6 pound king.
Varied my speed from 2.4 to 3.1 mph on the DR-X 10. When I would slow way down, the temperature would go from 60 down to 49. My coppers were 200, 250, 300 and 300 with a 6 ounce weight. One Dipsy flasher fly varied from 120 to 240 LLC and other side spoon from 140 to 190 LOC. Looks like 7 more days of east wind so I may switch back to bluegills!

If Coal Park gets closed for the Salmon Season , the local business will suffer from the restaurants, bars, and Hotels ! What about handicapped fishermen ? Coal Park is one of the few places where you can fish from shore without being a mountain goat !! If that happens, The city politicians better start looking for new jobs !!!
Fishing continues to be excellent out of Port Washington! We had some great catches this past weekend chasing some nice King Salmon! I have this Sunday, September 17th open if you’re interested in getting on these fish. Give us a ☎️!
Absolutely amazing day on the water today! Multiple kings over 20lbs! Still have dates open in September.

Fishing remains good despite the recent water warm up. Sunday’s afternoon group did very well catching a mix of King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Lake Trout. A combination of flasher flys and spoons working deep water from 200-400ft. A list of my remaining dates if you’re interested in getting out.

This is what Ive always done, you could add some red pepper flakes or douse with a hot sauce towards the end of the smoke up to you. Hope it helps.
goodfishin!
