Humps
Fished in the fog early Sunday morning and could not get those tight lipped walleyes to bite. Marked several fish on different humps and couldn’t entice one on many different baits including jigs and minnows. Second time we struck out on this lake. They sure are in there but don’t come easy.

You can PM me Fishing_5, if I am on-line, and I can call you to talk about what I found on Fence first week of August. We moved 7 musky in 3 time limited efforts of 2-3 hours each over 3 days. We fished other species mostly on the chain. We had one hook-up and follows/strikes on others. Rubber was working best on 5 of those including hook-up. Medussa’s and/or Dawg. I can update you on humps we worked on north end and where I found weeds around those to save you search time. Remember that was a month ago though. Weeds may no longer be in those locations. Other lakes on chain might present better options from direct understanding of recent activity I know. Look forward to chatting, if you have not already headed up. If you follow any fishing shows on Youtube, check out recent apbassing musky video. Day 2 was launched on Fence, the moved through Crawling Stone and into Interlachen/Long. Not that I agree or condone the behavior demonstrated by the group. But they hooked up on the chain in just one day trying. Think it may have been into Moss. But we can discuss other lakes on chain to give you better shot.
Fished 7/8 - 7/14
Walleye- found them on the humps early morning andlate evening. Slip bobbers with leeches/crawlers worked well as did drifting with a crawler piece. 19' - 22' was most productive. Also found them in the bay near Strawberry Point. 12' - 13' worked best for us. Only able to catch a handful of keepers. Most fish were within our above the slot. Biggest of the week 30".
Smallmouth - extremely active all week, all day on the humps. Crawlers, leeches under a bobber or dragging the bottom were all productive. The kids had a blast catch and release. Biggest of the week wasjust shy of 20".
Crappie - mixed in with the walleye in the bay of Strawberry Point. 12' - 14', 4' beneath a bobber...plastics worked best.
Weather was great all week with moderate winds
