Wisconsin River Below Petenwell Dam

Hello, was curious if people have been launching as of late below petenwell dam. Also if the launch by dam or under 21 is in better shape to launch. Thanks! 

My Dad Marvin Nelson was fishing up at Petenwell dam with me Saturday March 16th and lost wallet in parking lot off 18th west side.  If someone found it could keep money in it but contact or send us contents no questions involved my number is 6087518807.   Thanks.  Fishing was slow in the cold and wind but managed about 50 fish with minnows. 

Fished below the dam for the first time this weekend! Had to fight the wind, but was able to catch a lot of good walleyes on plastics. Mostly males with a couple females mixed in, so so I expect things will heat up soon!

Went out Sunday below the dam. Ok action a few eyes,a nice perch, and odd enough a clam. I had a few friends who aren't avid fisherman with.I supplied the rods and tackle. While setting up one of their lines after they broke off another lost one of my poles. St.croix medium action walleye rod, pflueger reel,bright yellow braid. It's about 150' put from the third gate with line out. I know it's along shot. Expensive trip but still worth getting people into the sport.

Mr. K.G. you will be able to get a Vhull from the 21 launch up to the dam and even down river to the lake without any issues. Water depth in this  area always navigable for boats of all sizes and good fishing,

hows the fishing been? what is the water flow like? could i het a v bottom up to the dam from hwy 21? thanks for the info in advance

Fished below the dam yesterday. Water temps stayed at 45. Wind was up & down throughout the day. Flow was very fishable for the few boats out. Mid afternoon the whistles blew and they shut all the gates down so the only flow was through the power plant and the adjacent single chute. This reversed the current and we had the fish the other side of the boat. The day was filled w/ undersize, spent male walleyes. It was fun & great practice working on the feel and hook set.  3/16 jig n either minnow or plastic worked. Took home 1 (male) & a supersized spent perch for dinner.
 A dozen white bass showed up too, a few of which exceeded 15".

Good to know current water levels.

Took a ride to the Dam today. Water is high and all gates are open, but not flooding into the parking lot. Several boats were out. East side trees are flooded, which is where everyone is fishing. Launch is accessible. The 21 bridge launch however is a different story. The pier is flooded, I wouldn't try and launch from there.
