First time fishing this stretch of the river and I must say the boaters were the most respectful bunch I have ever seen! Every boat passing someone fishing came off plane, just don't see it most places. Honestly a fishing boat on full plane is not a problem. Its guys who slow down to barley on plane or get on plane next to another boat that get me going. Anyway fishing was slow for most today. Vertical jigging minnows and flys being the only producers. Plastics and hair were not the ticket today......

Fished a few days this week... vertical jigged some but mostly anchored up and casted flys and a carolina rig... caught one on a floating jig too but flys were on fire... purple really and trimmed down some... 3 way rig 10 12 inch drop for weight... 14 15 ft deep morning bite was best... which to me was weird for time of year.... 1 keeper in two days.. caught 60 70 fish... also drifted and pumped flys which was productive....
Fished today.........10:00 to 4:30. Grollier launch was just full because the boat in front of me had two vehicles for one boat. Only 2 fellas each brought their own vehicle so I went to the Island Bar Launch. It's only $10. Caught fish immediately. But they were all small so I searched out a different spot. Same action but there were some keepers. Other boats with 2 guys did better with multiple lines out. The bigger fish are further away from the lake for me today. I'm sure more will be on their way out of the lake. Bigger minnows 2.5 to 3.0" had more bites. Jig color used was red and chartreuse also used split shot and a gold hook. All caught fish. I had one nice keeper.. BB

Late report. Fished Friday with a buddy. It was slow for us and boat control was quite challenging. We managed to catch 10 or so with most from 16-17 inches. No keepers. Only thing hitting plastic was carp. Looks like it's going to get cold again, so might have to wait a while to go again. It's always fun to get out, even when the conditions are far from ideal. Chartreuse jigheads were working the best for us.
Fished yesterday. There was a tournament going on so there were plenty of boats out there. Drifting and vertical jigging didn't work well. Sitting still anchored and casting was the way to go which was fine with me because it was windy and boat control was tough. Everyone was catching fish. And there were some keepers. My big fish was a 7# catfish.
Stopped by the bait box before hitting the river. Steve at the shop was most helpful for this first timer. Told me to go to groller launch. It's free and there is a dock there. Only parking for 16-18 vehicles and NO street parking......unless you want a $150 ticket. Very nice launch. Most of the river is 6-8 feet deep although I was told it's down about 3 feet. I found fish on the deeper holes 10 -15'. Everyone was catching fish although very few met the 18" minimum. My largest was 16.5" Drifting and vertical jigging worked. Green was best but red also worked. One fellow had purple which also caught fish. Great day without wind.

Went out this morning at day break to try to get on some walleye, took until the clouds broke up and the sun to come out and they started popping off pretty good.
