Mississippi River Pool 9 - Genoa

Fished pool 9 from the dam down to Blackhawk park from 4/20 - 4/24. Very difficult with so much water and fast current. Had some success with the walleyes when we found some protected water with slower current. Fished the current seam with pink jig and half a crawler worked really slowly. Ended with 6 keeper walleyes and 2 saugers. Watched the river rise 2 feet over those 4 days. Still rising with a predicted peak this weekend. Lots of debris and large trees coming through. Have to be very observant if you go out. Only open launch is by the power plant. BE SAFE!!

Hey Ranger,  I was there of 4/2 and 4/3.  Great weather and great perch fishing.

Had a Great day on the Mississippi with Ted Peck today, got over 40 Large Mouth Bass, a huge sauger and a real surprise , a large Brown Trout.  Another Great day on the River with the Master.

Salmon man - were you there THIS Monday and Tuesday?  I was there on the barge last Monday and there was not one single perch caught. ?

CONGRATULATIONS on a successful day Salmon Man. I guess I  got there a little too late. I missed out anyway. Thanks for your report. 

My friend and I were on the barge Mon and Tues 4/3 and 4/4.  We were fishing for perch and caught our limit both days and went home with 60 perch.  I saw a lot of walleye caught and many were too big and were returned to the river.  It was 2 great days.

Cldwater - I was on the barge yesterday morning. 70+ people.  I left after 2+ hours and seeing one walleye caught on the barge. I did get some perch from shore just down from the dam. 

Fished yesterday (Monday) by the barge from ?2-5. Very few boats and barge was nearly empty. Bite was OFF. I caught one jumbo and a 14 1/2 walleye. Only saw a couple walleyes landed in other boats and no perch. Better luck next time. 

Hey guy on the Mississippi,  just a word of caution.  I have recovered 17 drowning victims on Madison Lakes over the years.  NONE, I repeat, NONE of them were wearing a life preserver.   Stay safe and keep fishing!

My sister is buying me 2 inflatables for my birthday.  Not thrilled I don't  wear mine running down the river. I should I know*****
I'll be 64 this month.
Time I start acting my age.

I also took the small ladder off my lund when I bought 5 yr ago...
Put that back on yesterday
