It's not typical Carpio, just happened to find them concentrated in one area today lol.
I love Crappie and Walleye fishing, but today was one of those days that you kinda just stumble on - I doubt it will ever happen again.
They were not there last week, and they likely won't be there next week - just got lucky today. Time and chance happen to us all - today I got lucky!
I fish this spot frequently, and in 15 years have never found crappie where they were today. Typically catch a few Gills and an Eye. Have not found a single crappie there in 15 years lol! Dumb luck I think - but I'd rather be lucky than good :)

Thanks JB, was so much fun.
The Bowfin and Gills were a hoot too! Still smiling.
God provided an awesome day!

Made it out with a fellow lake-linker today.
Was the best Crappie fishing day of my life! Water was 44 degrees.
We threw back a 17, (2) 16's, (3) 15's, (4) 14's, and more 12's and 13's than I can count. We kept enough for a fish fry of 11 inches and smaller Crappies - let everything bigger than 11 go.
We also caught some dandy Gills! A couple LM Bass, A Bowfin, and a Yellow Bass.
Such a fun day! Nothing wanted a a crawler, not even worth using anymore. A mini mite was the best bait hands down, color did not matter, followed by a simple minnow underneath a float.

Started work early so I could get off early, and squeeze a couple hours in behind the house before it got dark!
I caught four fish, which is four more than I had expected - my expectations were pretty low lol!
On our first spot, I caught three fish in the first four casts, thought we had found the mother load, but only caught one more fish in the next two hours!
Caught 3 smallish smallies, and 1 small yellow guy!
One smallmouth on a fly targeting eyes (it was a homemade fly made by the legendary Gil 1774), and two on a mini mite (targeting crappies). The YB came on the mini mite too.
Going to head out tomorrow and give it a serious try! Coming with plastics, minnows, and crawlers.
I just enjoy being out there, if we catch anything that will be a bonus!
More to come...

Nice BK!
Not only awesome that you had 3 generations on the river, but you found some fish too - just great!
River by me pretty slow (for about two weeks now), so we tried some different shore areas where we didn't have much company. River pic is behind my house - not much happening now, think it may be done til Spring. Although we didn't pull the lil' John Boat in quite yet, next weekend looks doable.
Found lotsa smallies, but not overly huge... Most were 12ish, some 14's, and a few 16's, along with some Rockies, LM, and a stray Crappie.
Fished both Sat and today. Saturday was pretty awesome as far as numbers, today was much slower, but still a hoot!

Took one last trip to the Fox with my son and dad on Saturday morning. Fished Rochester and Waterford Dam. Classic river day catching at least one of the following species: crappie, white bass, yellow bass, walleye, smallmouth, largemouth, perch, drum, rock bass, sunfish, and bluegill. Six keeper white bass and 5 keeper crappies all still swimming. All caught on minnows and Mepps #3 spinner. Ended the day and probably the season with a 19 inch largemouth.
Was a tough day out there...
The wind was blowing strong, so boat control was about impossible, even with a little Jon Boat.
The steady cold wind made it tough going, but knowing that there are only a couple of weekends left, decided to give it a try.
Tried five spots, only one of them held active fish. For the most part it was small yellow bass, they were just a nuisance today, you couldn't keep your line in the water long enough to catch something worth talking about.
Ended the day with a drum, one small largemouth bass, and as many small yellow bass as you would like.
I had planned on staying out all day, but after three hours, the wind had taken its toll, and I headed in around noon.
I believe it was the least productive day of the year, but I still had fun trying, knowing that a month from now soft water fishing will be over...

Nice Job on the Fall eyes TD!
Have not seen you post in a bit, hope you got out a bunch!
I was really looking forward to getting out this Saturday, but it looks rainy, and windy!
Hoping they're wrong, it's going to be over in a couple of weeks, so would love to get out!
I may head out either way. We'll see what Saturday brings...
