Cherokee Marsh/Madison

Waters low.
Ice is thin/patchy at best. Was over there yesterday.

More vegetation above the surface of water/ice than I've seen in recent years. 

I stopped by and checked it out yesterday and it was NOT safe ice.  Lots of water showing and no one was ice fishing.  Snow next week isn't going to help even though the temperature is supposed to be dropping.  The good news is Cherokee Marsh is mostly very shallow. :)

Was wide open on Monday, about 60% open water on Tuesday, skimmed over Tuesday night...not sure how long that will hold with 40s and rain in the forecast. I drive by every day and haven't seen anyone on. 

Anyone getting on still, or just Moses ?

Just went by Cherokee Marsh and there were 30 people spread out. Talked to one coming off the ice, he said there wasn't much ice and the bite was really slow. With the warm arriving I think I will wait a week or so. If you go out use caution and good luck!

I counted 9 people on the ice yesterday.  Too early for me though!

Good report Fishloveme! Yes, it won't be long now! I have fished Cherokee for over 50 years (Yes, I'm an old timer), a great early ice spot. Have done well there, always hit or miss. Ya just gotta keep hittin it all year. Always pays to get away from the crowds, shallow areas can be good. Lot's of lake out there, get out and explore! Always stop at DNS bait, their spikes are the best! Gettin darn cold out, it should ice up real quick! Stay safe and good fishing!
